Gathering sound bites for different moods.

The first task enabled us to gather different sections of music which demonstrated a range of moods, i.e danger, sorrow and love. This task aided me with getting to terms with the Garageband software, but also it helped me gain an understanding of how different music can create different moods for a radio broadcast, which helps when creating the introductory jingle for my preliminary product.

Task Two.

Using sound effects to create possible outdoor broadcasts.

This task enabled me to have a better understanding of the Garageband features. It also created a basis for giving me idea’s on creating outside broadcasts for my main product.

Task Three.

Deconstructing Jingles.

This task gave me the chance too research and deconstruct existing radio jingles. From my research i have understood that different music genre’s or lyrics that are in the jingle effect the type of radio broadcast the jingle is for. This task aided me in creating a suitable jingle for my preliminary product.

Task Four.

Deconstructing news programmes.

In this task i had to deconstruct a local news programme and a national news programme. Carrying out such an investigation enabled me to know what time of news stories i would need and it also gave me an understanding between the differences of a local or national broadcast. E.g in a local broadcast the news items were centraled on the Staffordshire and Cheshire area and only had the majour national news. Whereas in the national broadcast a wide variety of stories from around the country were featured. In my investigation i have also gained the knowledge of such things as vox – pops.

Interview Experimenting.

This task put my gained knowledge of the Garageband facilities to the test. I used such features as voice recording and ducking to gain a better quality of voice. I feel that this task had enabled me to have a good understanding in recording a podcast.

Task Six.

Research local radio websites.

This task gave me an insight at who are the local radio stations target market. E.g BBC radio Stoke’s site suggested that there station was for the older generation as dull colours were used and headlines and strap lines were clear. On the other hand Signal used bright colour and flashing images suggesting their station is for the younger generation.

Task Seven.

Local radio listings.

This task gave me an insight into real radio news broadcastings. From this research i have learnt that there are different news formats (full length and bulletin).

Task Eight.

Preliminary and Main product proposal.

In this task i had to put together all the ideas i have gained from my research tasks and make a plan of what i would like to do in my products.

Task Nine.

Storyboards.

In this task i created four storyboards which detailed the different scenes in each of the news broadcasts in my main product. These helped me decide where sound effects should be placed. There is no electronic evidence of this as i had created them on paper.
